I think everyone this carbon tax will be here in one form or another even if Abbott wins. Which he will. Just like we all new Kevin would be elected! In 2019 Abbott will be out more than likley. The bulk of his MAJOR reforms will come in his 2nd term. This is how our system works. Liberal will never be in all gthe time - and nor will labour. The Greens will lose their majority in 2013. Writing is clearly on the wall.

We are blessed to live in more of a democracy than many nations. More so than most of realise unless we have 1st hand experienced the realities of living under a corrupt/ruthless regime.

However, we are far from a true democracy. We (the Western World) run on a two party system. So while big reforms are always knocked with constant fear mongering - they go through. GST/deregulating the $/airline industry. Anyone in the investment banking world is THRILLED with an ETS. Another platform to trade from. We will see the positive effects from this in our economy around 2015. So despite the spin that we will see form Abbott the CT is here to stay. His lies will be as big as Julia's when she said NO CT!

The miners could get hit come Monday. Other non Aussie miners like SDL may benefit??? But this will not last forever. The boom will continue on, but the quicker Australia starts to put into the non mining system the better. In particular our agriculture industry - rather than selling it off to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

We need foreign $ and foreign skilled workkers, but we also need to invest far more in our own. When it is only the mining and foreign student industry holding us up no one discretionary spending is way down. The young (in the 20's) spend far more wisely/frugally than my generation - gen x. Every 2nd wedding related shop here in Leichhardt Sydney is closing. Just one exmaple. Toy shops are also doing it very tough.

Bring on Monday and get it over and done with. CERTAINTY may be well welcomed by most???/and hopefully the market?? - though I doubt it.
