News: Adelaide Brighton estimates $5million profi

Adelaide Brighton Ltd (ASX:ABC) has estimated its net profit will receive a $5 million hit before mitigation measures in the first year of the carbon scheme.



The cement and lime manufacturer said that in light of both the strong Aussie dollar and the proposed carbon tax, it will continue to evaluate its domestic footprint compared with the potential enhancement of import flexibility.



In a statement to the ASX today, the company said that over the past 10 years it has significantly reduced its carbon footprint, and has been committed to reducing carbon emissions.



For the second half of last year, Adelaide Brighton (ASX:ABC) reported a profit of $151.4 million.
