Thanks for your compliment - but more particularly for your own detailed response LTI. I hope some more savvy people will comment soon.
VERY IMPORTANT
I note that in respect to my original Point 6 and your response we are as one. Once a takeover is effected we have lost the growth that dreams are made of. You put it nicely: Our dreams of many multiples are gone, even though the tech pays off as expected. LONG-TERMERS NEED TO BURN THIS INTO THEIR FOREHEAD! You spelled out the only solution i.e. DON'T SELL into a takeover. I reckon we need to almost campaign on this, although I imagine the Hot Copper crowd are a big minority.
I see this whole issue as so important (read my post again if anyone missed it - it's not Big Kev's detergent, remember). It is FAR too important to allow the short term gain of a cheap takeover wash our reasonable expectations down the drain at the whim of a sudden (or even considered) offer.
You said 'We gotta hope the Top 20 are thinking this way. Do you think they'd jump for 2c? I don't think so. 10c maybe yes, but 2c, not likely IMO. Remember, there's a whole bunch of options at 1.5c, many owned by the top 20. Would the holders be happy to have all of the crap we've been through to make a lousie half a cent?'
Again - I'm with you, except 10c is of course way too low as well. The top 20 are critical for sure, but so are a 'collective' bunch of long termers, bearing in mind I understand a cheap takeover needs 90% of the available stock to agree before it becomes compulsory on the rest of us. I'm thinking someone in the top 20 say Andrew Doyle (bless him) may have $1M or $2M (a guess) hung out here in equity - OK he could decide that in his game plan it works to sell out at a couple of cents to double his money to say $4M. But....er.... why in hell would you bother if hanging tight could instead return hundreds of millions or maybe (don't laugh) a billion or three in his case. Again, we are not talking about kitchen detergent here - we are talking about early days in an apparent global game changing MST technology that surely might be worth squillions someday? No Takeovers - in NRL parlance - QUEENSLANDER!
