We're almost there. As far as I can see only 1 thing left to do for the pre-op licence.
According to their most recent quarterly report, Lynas will submit its Safety Case this month. And with that, it wraps up all the things Lynas needs to do on its side to meet the recommendations, except for continuing to communicate with the local population.
The government has also applied for, received and installed all of the resources it needs to set up monitoring and funding, to fulfill its end of the IAEA recommendations.
Of course, satisfying these recommendations doesn't guarantee the pre-op licence because this has become a political issue. But reason should ultimately prevail.
Does anyone else think that this situation is like the US debt ceiling standoff? Everyone knows which outcome is best for the country, but right now it's just a petty war of the wills.
