Costello was true to his beliefs, whether people agreed with them or not. Certainly competent. Bit hard blaming him for this. They just did what was the norm of the day. Not really something they invented.
While I havent been around for a huge number of treasurers he was number 2 even though I hated that smug smile.
If he had of followed the Great Paul Keatings lead and tapped the boss on the shoulder a bit harder he may have made it to number one. He really came up short there, guess he didnt have it after all.
I also wish he didnt oversee the selling of our gold.
Would be coming in handy about now.
