    I guess that's what globalisation & capitalism is all about - resist & you have to pay more to subsidise jobs until you can no longer do so.

    IMO that's part of the cause of the GFC - countries that continued to subsidise local production instead of innovating, improving productivity & educating its people for new types of employment.

    As for mining, my daughter-in-law was a project manager for RIO on its 'driverless train' project. I sometimes wonder if mining companies employ more people in offices than they do in the field.
