I think we can all analyse these things too much .As far as I was aware this is the downgrade we had to have , most commentaters had forecast it , the suddenness being the surprise , but a nice one to get out of the way

If the market sells of I don't think it'll be because of this tho' it could be the excuse .The reputations of the ratings agencies has taken a real battering the last few years , but this time they're only telling everyone what they already know .Cripes they just raised their debt ceiling to 14 trill so they can pay a few bills...it can hardly be a shock to anyone
