I guess we've all been concerning ourselves with the American debt ceiling and the S&P downgrade.
Why didn't the US .gov cut spending as S&P had been saying?
The elephant in the room in my opinion is GDP.
GDP is simply defined as "C + I + G + (x - i) and "G" is government spending. Decrease it by 12% and GDP falls by (at least) 12%. This is simple math - subtraction.
Just something to consider as SSN operates in the US.
