However the model Macnab us using here has the metals being sourced from deep intrusions and transported by magmatic hydrothermal fluids released from these solidifying bodies. These rising hot-reduced metal laden fluids then mix with the cold and oxidised meteoric fluids. It is the mixing that changes the chemistry of the fluids such that they are not able to retain the metals in solution any more and as a result the metals precipitate out into the rock.
