Negative gearing wont help you out if you dont have a job though.
Anyway I belive its being discussed in the senate or was recently as the government is looking at making changes.
Why...because negative gearing cost the govt a record 700 or 800 million last year in claims.

May way of thinking is that if you make an investment and it doesnt give you good returns then why should the general public have to pay for your losses.

I say scrap negative gearing and bring everything back into check...why should those not negative gearing pay for those who are.
I dont think they will scrap negative gearing altogether but I think a few changes might come on board...possibly something like you can only claim 50% of your losses.
