QUESTION time in federal parliament was aborted after just one question today following an opposition attempt to force Julia Gillard to explain her role in the Craig Thomson affair.

The Prime Minister refused to return to questions after a Coalition motion to suspend standing orders failed to gain a required absolute majority.
