COMEX METALS... spot gold is currently $1770.50 oz. The Aug gold contract rose $5.70 to $1759.80 oz, the Sept contract rose $5.70 to $1759.90 oz. Sept silver was up $1.583 to $40.745 oz. Oct platinum fell $3.90 to $1822.40 oz and Sept copper rose 8.1c to 407.90c lb.
LONDON METAL EXCHANGE... official cash ask prices were: copper $8907.50 tonne (pre $8832), tin $23,400 (pre $23,225), lead $2399.50 (pre $2344), zinc $2182 (pre $2149), aluminium $2334 (pre $2322) and nickel $21,050 (pre $20,820).
The 3-month ask prices were copper $8925 (pre $8855), tin $23,475 (pre $23,300), lead $2395 (pre $2342), zinc $2214.50 (pre $2179), aluminium $2369.50 (pre $2360) and nickel $21,100 (pre $20,830).
OIL... Oct crude rose $0.14 to $85.30 a barrel, with a high of $86.56 and a low of $83.01. The Nov contract rose $0.11 to $85.64 a barrel with a high of $86.93 and low of $83.41. Brent ICE for Oct rose $0.36 to $110.51 a barrel with a high of $111.22 and a low of $109.08.
US DOLLAR... is changing hands at 77.54 yen (pre 76.97), against the euro it is US$1.4386 (pre 1.4415) against sterling US$1.6290 (pre 1.6374) and against the Swiss franc US$1.2611 (pre 1.2573).
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR... is changing hands at US$1.0438 compared with US$1.0448 on yesterday's close. Offshore the Aussie posted a high of US$1.0510 and low of US$1.0425. Against the yen it is at 80.93 (pre 80.58) at 72.56 euro cents (pre 72.62) and 64.07 British pence (pre 63.95).
