Department of Defense directives and Army regulations assigns the Product Manager, Force Protection Systems (PM-FPS) the centralized management function for the research, development, and acquisition of interior physical security equipment, command and control systems, security lighting, tactical security systems, barrier systems, mass notification/ personnel alerting systems, and interior and exterior robotics.

PM-FPS is responsible for validating commercial off-the-shelf products that enhance security for Service members and organizations. PM-FPS responsibilities include fielding, safety evaluations, and logistics support to Services and organizations.
