    Primo, here's the article, from the AFR, written on 29th november, 2010. You can take out a free trial membership to the AFR to access it:

    It's titled, "Geothermal hot for consolidation". It says GDY and PTR look likely to lead the charge. The rationale for consolidation, includes capex costs, and government funding competition between the players.

    It totally makes sense to me, that instead of competing for limited funding, they join up- hopefully, GDY and PTR join up, and not take on the minnows. :) 4 of the minnows had to drop out of the race for Fed funding grants on the 8th August, due to not being able to match the grants with private funding, and high capex costs. Grants hads to be returned. Article here:

    As PTR is also partnered with TruEnergy and BPT, I reckon those synergies have potential. There ain't no bigger player around than BPT at the moment- doing deals left, right and centre.
