She was interviewed on radio and was very unconvincing. There's a smattering of truth in there and she repeated a number of times that the US made mistakes - which is the point.
Even if the US had a selfless motivation for taking over when the French decided to leave, it was lost in the clumsy vicious tactics they used with little regard for the lives of the Vietnamese, or the Laotians, or the Cambodians. The US won the war for the North Vietnamese - no risk.
They'll win the war for the Iraqis, Iranians, Venezuelans and Cubans too.
