The coalition's proposed response to the GFC was not much different - tax cuts instead of $900 cash payments but the outcome of more jobs and more debt would have been the same. I was retrenched during the GFC and it took me nearly 2 years to pick up another job. Without the stimulus, I might still be unemployed. So my family is thankful for the stimulus - we got a new building for the kids school and remediation work at the local reserve and national park.
