Ramses,
People put buy and sell orders in after close of the regular markets. Depending on what orders are in, there is an indicative price (similar to before the market opens). If you use a platform like Comsec, it will tell you what the indicative price is, and the surplus volume.
For example, tonight there were a few sell orders for 18.5c and 19.0c after trading, and a few buy orders for 19.5c. The 19.5c buy orders outnumbered the 18.5c and 19.0c sell orders, so all shares were sold for 19.5c. The 18.5c and 19.0c sellers essentially skipped the queue by offering a lower price post market, yet managed to sell for their target price of 19.5c.
Because they all sold for 19.5c, and there was a surplus of 1,084,583 shares for sale at 19.5, Comsec showed the below indicative price:
Indicative Price ($): 19.500
|
Surplus Volume: -1,084,583
The negative meaning 1.08m shares for sale.
