I see where you are coming from.
Ok this is not a complete moat as buffet would define it however, with dark fibre and the service they provide , it has a first mover advantage. Get busineses linked to your service and they are unlikely to change. Through acquisitions , there are cross sell opportunities.
Data usage is expected to grow at rates of 40 % pa over 2-3 years ( microequities report) and there is room for VOC to grow . Its market cap today is 80 mill, at this point in the early phases it has an advantage if it can get its infrastructure ready and offer them to businesses. It is unlikely that a business would change provider unless they are unhappy with the service.
At this point in australia I see AMM, Pipe and Vocus the only ones into dark fibre.
A few years later down the track sure they may be competition , but for the next two years they are in a "sweet" spot.
