Uh, history says yes. Profitable stocks with accelerating revenue and earnings do well in any economic environment. And they tend to do even better in recessions. Why? When the rest of the market is being hurt by the economy the few performers are seen as resilient and scarce growth. If Lynas is a producer with accelerating revenue and earnings starting in 2012 and there is a global slowdown I would expect a strong share price and multiple expansion.
