They would nationalise it first (as unthinkable as that may sound).

The consequences of global systemic banking collapse are unthinkable. Not all the gold in the world would protect you from the ensuing chaos.

If you really think that Morgan Stanley is about to fail, sell your gold. Go and buy all the canned food you can hord and a rifle to protect it with.
