I really have no idea, but just putting it out there as a hypothetical...
What about using massive cargo planes to haul the ore to an airport then ship it out (via ship)? Would cancel the need for road/rail and get the ore to port quicker?
I understand fuel costs would be pretty high tho, but the frequency of deliveries might cancel out the lower transport amount compared to road/rail. I'm guessing the trucks are like road trains?
I read that there are many deposits of IO in the region that are inaccessible to transport (at the moment). Unless infrastructure like road or preferrably rail is built (but at massive cost). So was just thinking maybe transport by air would unlock all these locked up remote deposits?
Its what $80/t after costs now AGO is getting. I wonder how much less (or maybe more) it would be if they did something radical like use air? It could be more due to as previously mentioned increased supply (accessing more deposits) and quicker delivery turnaround (air beats road/rail).
