I've never had any problems with the idea of children having school uniforms. They were simply meant to break down the barriers and so focus on learning. Most parents and teachers have this view and it seems easier to maintain acceptable standards of dress........ i.e. safety, recognition, friendly, economical, tone and purpose.
Quite a few schools have an out of uniform mufti day to raise money ..... this works well.
