Option 1 wouldn't provide reliable guidance about Cu or Au contents. It, as well as option 2 doesn't comply with JORC guidelines, unless the lab is appropriately certified. But on a commercial basis university labs are often not cost competitive for run-of-the-mill assays as they tend to do more specialised work.
Option 3 is probably your best bet.
