there are cultures where the man with 13 children is seen as richer than the man with 3 children.

cattle,goats and camels have been used as stores of wealth,and degradation of the land resulted. 100 cows are more valuable than 10 cows, even if the 100 are unproductive skin and bones on overstocked land, and the 10 are economically productive and running at a sustainable stocking rate.

if you have 13 children,and hard times arrive,you can go to a western funded feeding center,and have your wealth counters fed and maintained.you can even feed your wives up to breeding weight,and get them pregnant again while you wait.

there is a solution,there are parts of the third world where a man with less children,but owning a mobile phone,television and motorscooter is seen as wealthier than a man with many more children in a dark mud hut.

are mobile phones the population control incentive? should western aid organisations offer mobile phone services to families with 2 children or less?. got to be some way out of it.
