you are right, it is not gospel, UCG gospel doesn't exist today. UCG is not a commercially proven technology in the western world so you have to empathise with DERM. Their position is torn between the safety of the public and the environment and allowing a potentially valuable new energy industry to evolve in QLD. DERM have not ruled out UCG and will make their decision in 2012 but we have to commend them on their proactive course of commissioning independent scientists to evaluate UCG. Their call on the shutdown was based on recommendations and obviously comes at an expense to themselves. Let's not forget that if DERM shut down UCG completely they shut down a potentially huge money revenue generator. Name another state department in the world that is conducting the same due diligence on UCG that DERM is doing?
