The Australian share market has opened steady, despite Wall Street closing up more than one per cent overnight.

At 1023 AEDT on Thursday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 0.3 points at 4,242.2, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 0.1 points, at 4300.7.

On the ASX 24, the December share price index futures contract was unchanged at points at 4,220, with 8,908 contracts traded.
