talking up, talking down

  1. 70 Posts.
Given that your addressed your post 7341325 to me, andy, it would be ill-mannered of me not to respond in full, but a new thread is probably appropriate:

    "Tromper

you talk of Novel Orient incorporated as a shelf company in the British Virgin Islands, and imply there is something wrong because of this

do you know then that most Hong Kong based businesses use BVI
incorporated entities to do business in China"

... yes, done a lot of business in East Asia, had a few BVI companies myself, and others registered in the Caymans, Nieue, and know why I had them.

"do you know that as a result of that structure, BVI is the largest foreign investor in China?"

... say what there, lad? http://milind.data360.org/graph_group.aspx?Graph_Group_Id=1163

"to say then because Novel Orient is incorporated in BVI then there must be something wrong is laughable, ignorant and irresponsible"

... can't recall saying there was something wrong about Novel Orient, you drew your own conclusions.

"do you know that Warren Buffet's biggest investment in China is BYD,

of course you do as you are an expert in China,

do you know where BYD is based,

you must seeing you are a Chinese expert"

... missing the relevance here, but let's move on ...

"what is the most common name in China, what is second."

    a) "Li", b) Wang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_Chinese_surnames

"do you know that Novel Orient and Caigouzhan have no common management,"

... I admit to knowing nothing about the matter for the simple reason that absolutely nothing specific was disclosed in the GCN ann. You've subsequently told us that there are some commonalities, but that's just hearsay.

"How will this translate to profits/revenue?

well I suppose they will sell these products online and through IPTV,
I suppose this is the aim, pretty obvious I would say."

... I can't see the "obvious" for the obstacles, being deeply entrenched local competition, etc, etc, as mentioned elsewhere.

"you must have a real grudge against GCN,"

... nope, wrong again, no grudge at all. I came on originally to post some info I thought would be of interest, had no intention of sticking around but the immediate, forceful response that I got from you, particularly, and others, with all the innuendo and totally misguided assumptions about my identity and motives, along with what seems to be very selective moderation that piqued my interest.

"to continually get suspended and come straight back on trying to talk them down,"

... is asking questions and pointing out facts, "talking down" in your parlance? What I see in your posts is speculation and a slew of statistics based on "maybe", "if" , etc, with very little if any willingness to exchange views about fundamentals, and a deep-seated resistance to discussion of any indications that don't support your rosy view. In my parlance that's called "talking up" and I can understand the irritation that you and others express when any discussion gets in the way of that objective. However, I understand your position, you're in this for the trading, the short term-profit, and in that game the fundamentals, the reality, don't matter. It's all about feeding the stock, spinning a great-sounding story that will bring in the punters and raise the price, ... buy low, fatten the calf, sell high, and the caravan moves on.

"does PC know you are wasting time on this and not working on that website."

... it's about time you let go of that furphy, a typical example of the innuendo and misguided assumptions I referred to above.

"anyway the sp is going well is it not,
ex P1 shares and all and the sp is going well,
    that must hurt a lot."

... another wrong assumption. I have no personal interest in the sp, if you or others can make money on this, more power to your elbows. Now that I understand the game you are playing, I'm no longer concerned with what I previously saw as the 'immorality' of this activity, for want of a better word. In the end it all comes down to the age old old warning "caveat emptor". Anyone familiar with the short-term game knows the risks, like someone playing a game of bluff poker, and anyone buying into GCN with long term objectives without looking very carefully at the fundamentals has only themselves to blame.

"angry is very happy up 300% with a stack of P1 shares about to come,"

... and good for you, too, Seriously, I mean it. You know how to play poker, you took the risks, you fed the stock, you deserve to win. But try not to get so irritated when someone calls your bluff.

    "got any tips on shares,
do you invest Tromper, of just spend all your time on grudges."

... doing very well indeed with my investments, thanks, all on the back of companies with solid fundamentals, competent management and so on. My major speculative tip is disclosed in my signature.

"I think the punters here would like to know if GCN is not a good investment what would you recommend,"

... you appear to be implying that I've said somewhere that GCN is not a good investment. I've made no call on that, I've just raised questions that may have led some to reach that conclusion.

"you don't post on anything else so we have to ask on this thread."

I did provide a recommendation on this forum a couple of weeks back but was almost immediately moderated for being off topic, so won't be drawn further on that exercise here.
