You are right about the last industrial action. I heard 140m but who is counting, seems the QAN management are not? It seems that they would rather cost the company money and continue to watch the brand cop a hiding than to give anything to the worker's. This cannot help the SP at all as well. I believe we should all get past who is wrong or right as there are arguments on both sides. Personally, I just want this to be resolved but it seems the company does not want to negotiate at all.
This one should be interesting, if things get real nasty, the engineers and pilots have the ability to cost the company a hell of a lot more than 150m through working to rule, deciding not to fly when one of the 3 avionics systems is down (normally flights often leave with one of the systems or components down) due to safety concerns, or indeed if all skippers start loading maximum fuel for EVERY flight. This would cost the company tens, if not hundreds of millions extra and is not something any of us want to see.
Mr. Joyce does not seem to realise that without the cooperation of the engineers and pilots the airline's operations can be scaled back to a very slow operation indeed causing huge problems as airlines are all about meeting schedules and connecting flights. It could get extremely ugly so it does not take a rocket scientist to work out that a mediated result is in the best interests of all. Time for Mr. Joyce and co. to find a solution otherwise the shareholders will have no choice but to demand that he is removed.
