Just re-read my post and want to add.

Some of the ground staff I talked to at other airlines (contracted) were doing split shifts.

First shift was 5am-8am and were paid $21 per hour and then had to back up at 4-8pm for the same. Other ground staff were given 5 hour shifts for the same money at domestic - which entails more travel in Sydney than at International.

I don't want this for QAN staff and would hate to see it go that way so all power to the unions for fighting for their members.

The contracted workers were about 5% unionised and management had them where they wanted.

These people would kill to work for Qantas.

The staff I talked to were in a big pool of people and only got 30 hours per week in order to keep them 'hungry' and at call for extra hours - disgraceful.

It also might be unfair but the 'spinstress' QAN employs for the media is like a robot in my view and I don't like the way the CEO is handling this.

If John Borghetti had stayed I hear that a lot of staff thought he was a great guy.



Again, I think BOTH sides need to pull their head in.
