My take is that the market saw thru Qantas management. They are trying to screw their workers while making big profits. If they can't make it work paying Aussie standard wages, close up and let Thai or Singaapore take over. I bet all the people whinging about the unions shop for the best priced airfares. There's the problem. Management want New York and London sized paypackets but the workers are judged by what Indonesian and Thai staff get. If Australians shop for the lowest fares then get used to the fact that the big Q will go out of business. This is globalisation. Shop on the internet and goodbye Myer etc etc. Just a fact of life. By the way I have nothing whatsoever to do with Qantas. I am a self employed investor.
