THE collapse of New York-based futures and CFD broker MF Global has sent ripples across the world because of its global reach, for instance temporarily closing down wool and grain futures trading on ASX24, the old Sydney Futures Exchange.
Last night an Australian Securities Exchange spokesman said "in the interests of ensuring a fair, orderly and transparent market", it had decided to suspend trading in wool and grain futures. Those markets will reopen today.
