imho, charting can be used on a 30 second basis, intra daily, or any other time frame including monthly/yearly or simply identifying entry and exit points on the multi year economic cycle.
I really think that you are maybe confusing charting and selling short and the two are really worlds apart.
I form my broad strategy on FA but try and use rudimentary TA to find entry and exit points, both for individual stocks and the market as a whole. Works OK for me, most of the time. LOL
