JB, got rid of most of WAA some time ago. I think Geoff Wilson is a gun investor and I am happy that he has held a lot of cash (as I have), during these volatile times.
I invested in WAA from the outset as I was attracted to the "Active" side of the LIC. I expected this to mean WAA would be more involved in shorting strategies. Unfortunately they do very little shorting, and this was very evident during the GFC when I thought they would have done very well. Perhaps this was a misunderstanding on my part.
I have a significant holding in WAM which seems to do the same job with much greater liquidity.
