Ok here we go - this is what I found so far.

The Australian organization associated with helping the hospital is CNEC (Christian Nationals’ Evangelism Council).

Looks pretty legit to me.

I have also contacted ABC to see if they can provide some details on how to directly help the Australian medical team, which I will share if I get any response.

This is my preferred choice for the help channel rather than through a religious charity but this is a matter of personal choice of course.
