Just been reading an article about an event in Nazare in Portugal. There is an underwater canyon 305m deep that runs from the ocean right up to the cliffs. Its like a funnel....its unique. On November 1, this guy McNamara was equipped with a buoyancy aid and knee braces to protect his joints from the battering his legs would get. Without an emergency air supply, but with an extra 5kg of weight and foot straps, a jetski roped him to the top of this wave and down and down he went. He got clipped from the lip of the wave and Mcnamara is thinking he has got to make the bottom turn. He had seen guys get their arms ripped off and he's thinking this could tear his head off.
I know that speck I saw on that 30 metre (100ft) wave was somebody I had heard of. He was known as Gmac. Now I'm sure that was you.
