Can you connect the dots between the two following announcements by Phylogica;

1. "Now that Roche has independently validated the cell penetration activities of the Phylomers discovered by Phylogica, the two companies are now discussing the expansion of their collaboration to include in vivo studies for identification of unique Phylomer
peptides that cross the blood-brain barrier," announcement February 17, 2011.

2. "Australian drug discovery company, Phylogica Ltd, has successfully demonstrated preclinical proof of concept with a Phylomer peptide drug candidate for the treatment
of traumatic brain injury (TBI).....Phylogica is now pursuing partnering opportunities with major pharmaceutical and biotech companies for further development of its lead candidate," announcement February 21, 2011.

The Arrowhead Traumatic Brain Injury Conference is being advertised commencing March 7, in Washington DC. The conference brings together industry, government and academia to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing those involved in the research and development of new therapies for acute and chronic TBI.

One of the Key Questions to be addressed at the conference is 'How can the blood-brain barrier be overcome in drug delivery'.

How interesting that Phylogica is pursuing partnering opportunities with Big Pharma for the development of its key TBI drug candidates at the same time that the direction of the Roche collaboration has turned towards the identification of phylomers which cross the blood-brain barrier. Coincidence?
