Yes QF is a business and it has shareholders, customers and a responsibilty to both.
I will tell you one thing that would of stopped all of this union, media and bad PR for QF.
When you are slashing jobs off-shore, standing firm against requests for pay increases from certain parts of the business - You as the CEO (leader of a company) get a 72% renumeration increase during this time. What do you think people will do or say? - It is plain stupid. If Mr Joyce really thought about the bigger picture, because he knew the unions would do what they have done. He should of said "times are tough, I will not accept this increase during this time" I can promise you, people who were driving this pay increase for engineers, pilot's etc. would stand back and say - hold on a minute, this guy really cares about QF, staff & shareholders.
