Just reading through some of the detail of Gileads takeover of Pharmasset..of note is the cash offer/premium paid..
The market for HCV treatments in the US and developed world is large but doesn't justify this type of premium.I think this is setting Gilead up for the emerging type markets like China,India and Asia in general where HepC is rampant.
After commodities and consumables as these markets develop the next boom industries will involve health and hence, pharmaceuticals.
The US is aware that Asia is the world economies future engine room judging by recent defence initiatives.
Gilead wouldn't have throw that type of coin at Pharmasset without some strategic thought.
Who knows Biotron may even be able to catch some of this coin.
