Fishhead,
I'm 62 years old and remember very clearly some of my work colleagues being cleaned out in 1980.
You're assuming I had bank deposits then, incorrect, in my 30's I took some unbelievable risks in the sharemarket and property and am pleased to report I did exceptionally well out of both.
I sold my shares at the end of '86 before the crash, and paid off mortgage, and sold a couple of spec properties just before the GFC, that's in the bank too.
I also converted my super to 50% cash 6 months before Lehmans went under.
I don't think that's too bad.
I'm an inveterate bubble watcher.
