I work it out over time. I try to only buy specials...
So far i am about $10 per weel over...I bought a lot of chickem]n, and dishwashing tablets...that threw the budget out...but over time i will manage it...
I also bought cheese this week 4 x 1 kilo blocks coon tasty at $6.89...expiry may next year..I overspent but in the long range i will save...
I have been on both sides of the ledger...a few years ago retired..now battling to make ends meet due to gfc..(and ozl)
time you add in all other living costs ( not including any rent/mortage/loans) its $40k a year...
i have always tried to live frugely no matter what my net worth was...i can see how tough it must be...
