Ok, I'll put it another way. The people elect the parliament to run the country. The majority party has the numbers to call the tunes. Hence the people always get what they want, so in this case, they clearly don't want the malayasian deal.
I've come across your argument before. It is common in boards run by weak chairmen. What happens is that when a board decision is made, it is final, but sometimes people who don't like the final board decision will blame and attack individual board members. They look really silly, because once a BOARD decision is made it is a BOARD decision, not that of any individual.
Its about as relevant as arguing about votes once an election is over.
