Ell-jay, I understand in this day and age you should be able to communicate via email and emails from share holders should be addressed but sometimes they don't know who these emails maybe coming from, plus as you may experience yourself, many people are inundated with emails these days, a listed company would have to recieve a huge number of emails, I'd say way more than phone calls.

I always jump on the phone these days, I gave up on emails to Cnx some time ago, I normally get to speak to someone, it's hard to ignore a few consecutive phone calls.
