"We had about half an hour to have a good discussion about building their campaign to stop Lynas constructing the refinement plant in Malaysia.
Support is building for the campaign. Many locals remember the big protests more than 20 years ago against a similar plant operated by Mitsubishi. It was closed in 1992 and the company is now involved in a $100 million cleanup. The site of this rare earth refinement is regarded as one of Asia's largest radioactive waste cleanup sites.
I will be speaking to my colleagues about how we can help ensure an Australian company does not ruin the livelihood of locals and cause extreme environmental damage."
ME : I find it amazing that a Senator can have such a firm stance on a position which any reasonable person would expect greater than a half hour exercise of becoming "informed" prior to a stance such as - quote
SENATOR: " I will be speaking to my colleagues about how we can help ensure an Australian company does not ruin the livelihood of locals and cause extreme environmental damage".
What a joke !
Surely taking an approach of - investigating all the information - prior to "a stance" would display a prudent position electing to make an announcement on the parties decision taking on board "THE FACTS PRESENTED" would display a more weighed position.
Nope. Not senator Lee-Rhiannon of the Greens. What a disgrace. What an amateur. But does tick the expense claim I suppose.
The facts speak for themselves (or will speak)
Dot point Senator:
SAFE
COMPLIANT
INFORMATION TO RESIDENTS
OPERATIONAL LICENCE
PRODUCTION
REGULATORY TESTING
COMPLIANCE
EXPANSION
BUSINESS
It annoys me to tears that Senators have such a voice after being elected by the people to speak on their behalf after gathering ALL the facts.
Half an hour ? WHAT A JOKE.
