the 1 child policy wasn't meant to be a permanent solution. However with such a policy, inevitable industrialisation would be more managable considering that china is still in the process of building its city infrastructure. Foodwise - the solution will be in technology and economies of scale as bigger players taking over the traditional family farms.
Over the next 20 years watch the rich get richer and the poor move into the cities.
