    The election is over and Alastair Darling is still the Minister for Transport or as they say in the UK ..Secretary for Transport.

    Essentially the policy may boil down to this :
    (1) Scrap fuel taxes
    (2) Scrap motor registration charges
    (3) Pay as go on the motorways on a sliding scale depending on the road and time of day


    Already 5000 Norwich Union policyholders are having their insurance premiums decided on the kms travelled and this data is transferred from the vehicle to Norwich via GPS navigation device fitted in the car.
