Microtrader, what you describe is basically selling future income stream (royalty rate) in return for an upfront payment. This can be negotiated differently for each client.

I suggest that selling exclusive rights to the product (thus locking out all other competitors in a product / region) is something different and SHOULDNT result in a reduction in royalties. i.e the client is buying the right for exclusivity only, nothing to do with the royalty rate unless they buy that too.

With respect to an exclusivity deal, I suspect it would need to be an offer that Mark/Geoff couldnt refuse. Happy to leave it up to their judgement.
