This extract from a Mark Dow article on yahoo finance last night pricked my ears.

Most people still misunderstand the impact of the Fed's "money-printing." What the Fed is really printing is bank credit, and because consumers and companies are still trying to reduce debts, not borrow more, this money is remaining as bank credit. And it is therefore not finding its way into the economy and reducing the value of existing dollars.

IMO..I suppose this is why the $US is remaining slightly bouyant for so long. Most probably paints a wrong picture that it,s more a safe haven than gold at present.

There,s gonna be an almighty bang when its real worth is discovered.
