"The Premier, Bob Carr, will reveal today that he has given the go-ahead for two gas-fired power stations to meet the state's future electricity needs.
He will also announce at the ALP state conference that he has approved a new wind farm at Crookwell with 46 turbines, and ambitious emissions reduction targets for 2020 and 2050.
The two plants, to be constructed at Tomago in the Hunter Valley and Uranquinty, near Wagga, will be built by the private sector. The Tomago plant is expected to be operational by 2007. Another three plants are on the drawing board."
