Fascinating claim here from last month suggesting that world auto manufacturers concede OEC is the benchmark technology, but no deal can be struck with Orbital yet (OEC want too much money), despite millions being spent for an alternative to OEC.

Do a "google" on the "XV8" and see the valve direct injected V8 that GM was experimenting with bacl in 2001.
It used Orbital's Air assisted Direct Injection which is the benchmark for all another systems. No auto manufacturers want to use it because they have something like 1600 patents to cover the technology and they don't want to give it away.
At one point Saab was to be GM's launch customer using Orbital's DI system, but tight money killed the project.
Orbital's system can break the fuel up into 8 micron dia droplets. the nearest competition is only at 50 micron's and all the High Pressure systems are spending million trying to equal Orbital and they can't.
If Audi used Orbital system instead of Bosch's FSI it would get much better fuel economy. the High Pressure systems are claiming 6% to up to 20% but in real world numbers they are obraining probably less than 6%. OE's system will get you 13 to 19% consistently. ................"
