what is your trading story?, page-19

Well done Tim for starting such a thread and for joining in . We all like to hear stories on the hows and whys , especially from such a likely lad as yourself .

I had sold my house and moved to the tropics in 2005 . I had heard Bush say that the USA was going to ease it's dependence on oil and go for nuclear . I also read that U308 was getting scarce and going up . Well I thought I might buy into some aussie U308 co. and see what happens . The company I purchased shares in was called Paladin and they were $1.81 from memory . I was lucky enough to watch them go to ten dollars and green enough to pick the top without even trying . I dabbled and made money in BLR , DYL and BMN as well . My seat of the pants told me there was a correction coming in 2008 and it would come after the olympics in China was over . I was so so right but never for a moment thought it would ever get that bad . I remember thinking 4400 would be the bottom ( Mmmmm ) .

Well , I found Hot Copper during the GFC but had decided to learn but not invest until later .

My second foray started with a HC special .... oh I was ( AM ) so darn GREEN . I went for the momentum like so many new HC punters who think they are in for a free lunch .

My first buy was GDN yes I can laugh now . I rode that for a short time and realised how easy all this stock market stuff was . What happened from there was a steep learning curve which has included the likes of GDN PRW CTP and a myriad of other losers .

Somehow I have managed to learn and have been able to keep my head above water whilst all along having plenty of losers and a few real good ones as well .

I have learnt plenty from my own experience and a great deal from the HC forum .

These days I am gradually getting better at seeing when the con jobs are on and how to seek out good management and who to trust on HC .

I could go on and on but the upshot is that this is a learning curve that never stops and I AM HOOKED .
